US Oncology automates via Oracle
Service provider US Oncology has implemented the Oracle Database as part of a Java-based electronic health record system. The system, called iKnowMed, provides EHR access to some 800 oncologists across 468 affiliated locations, Oracle announced at DIA.
The implementation is an upgrade from a paper-based system used in determining treatment regimens. It also improves safety by sending alerts to warn providers of adverse drug interactions or reactions, Oracle says. In addition, the system can identify viable patient candidates for clinical trials.
US Oncology has also implemented Oracle E-Business suite, including its supply chain planning and warehouse management applications, in an e-pedigree system it uses to track drugs from the product manufacturer through to delivery to each practice.
