Trial aids boost cardiac safety
Automation tools from two software makers target cardiac safety in clinical trials. ERT's Centralized Cardiac Safety 2.0 helps researchers store and access the ECGs generated during trials from a central location.
Version 2.0 technology resides in the company's Expert operating platform. It works with the ELI-PC, a hand-held ECG collection device under license from Mortara Instrument. The ELI-PC communicates with the central database, allowing test-result communication and pre-trial download of patient demographics.
Separately, cardiac diagnostic technology provider NewCardio has announced that a U.S.-based CRO is licensing the QTinno software solution for automated cardiac toxicity analyses via QT interval studies in early-phase drug development. The technology provider also has signed a services work order, which includes development of SOPs and validation kits, to aid the CRO in offering ECG core lab services to its sponsor customers.
