Tech boosts enrollment at Parexel site
Parexel International has opened an early-phase clinical trial unit in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The unit boasts high enrollment potential, the company says, thanks to technology infrastructure and subject recruitment specialists.
The new site, part of the contract researcher's SuperSites network, incorporates call center and database capabilities for subject recruitment, in addition to proprietary technologies and data assets to plan for recruitment milestones. Among these tools is the ClinBase system, a validated electronic source data capture and trial management system.
"Increasing the number of patients per site and reducing the overall number of sites in a study serves to decrease variability, improving study quality and reproducibility," says Michelle Middle, corporate VP, in an announcement.
The Port Elizabeth site is intended primarily for first-in-man to proof-of-concept studies, the company says. It adds 40 beds to an existing 580-bed global early-phase capacity.
