Software culls insurance claims for subjects

Tools

Clinical informatics meets patient data in a solution that targets the lagging subject enrollment of clinical trials. The software capitalizes on the ability of top-ranking investigators to enroll patients more quickly than most others, and it taps into database of prospective trial subjects.

Subject-recruitment solution provider Acurian and informatics company i3 are working to beef up the Acurian patient database so it provides statistics that will help sponsors identify trial sites with access to specific patient populations.

The i3 database relating to private insurance claims can help sponsors identify candidate investigators throughout the U.S. and rank them according to the number of available patients who match study criteria. Some 50 million patients have self-reported ailments and expressed an interest in clinical trial opportunities via the Acurian.com Internet site and affiliated sources, Acurian says.
