Sanofi pins winner in hunt for digital diabetes breakthroughs
As Sanofi ($SNY) seeks expansion in the fast-growing diabetes market, the Paris-based drugmaker has awarded $100,000 to a group called n4a Diabetes Care Center for designing a system that analyzes Big Data sources to improve diabetes treatment. "n4a Diabetes Care Center's predictive analysis system takes a very different approach to diabetes care, with big data that measure tangible real life improvements in outcomes," said Dennis Urbaniak, head of Sanofi's U.S. diabetes unit, said in a statement. This is the second year of Sanofi's Data Design Diabetes contest, which provides teams with access to open data sets and other resources to advance breakthroughs for diabetes care. Release
