Privacy search helps match subjects and trials
Pfizer is working with Private Access, a privacy-enhanced search technology company, to recruit clinical trial subjects. The collaborators are creating an online community that targets the No. 1 reason for patient unwillingness to participate in trials: fear that their health information will not remain confidential. The system will give patients control of personal health information by allowing them to define who gets access to the records and for what purposes. The restrictions provide a benefit to researchers, who will be able to see the records of only those patients whose conditions match their study focus. Pfizer release
