E-mail volume has risen noticeably in the run-up to this week's DIA show in San Diego. Here's a sampling of what we're looking forward to. Check our website for more throughout the week and after the show.

Microsoft will conduct demos of clinical trial execution and its Amalga Life Sciences, a solution that takes a systems engineering approach to help migrate biological data into clinical practice. Demos will include trial launch and protocol authoring via Office, trial execution via Office SharePoint server and clinical trial analysis via Amalga.

Perceptive Informatics, a subsidiary of Parexel, will introduce an interoperable workflow and information-sharing solution for clinical trials. The company will also demonstrate its DataLabs electronic data capture system and two clinical trial management systems: the IMPACT solution for global biopharma companies, and TrialWorks, for small and mid-sized companies.

Perceptive last month unveiled a website designed to help investigators apply the new 1.1 version of RECIST (Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors) in medical imaging-based oncology trials.

DATATRAK will unveil a web-based training learning management system compliant with the Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM).

There's lots to come, including an announcement from enterprise content compliance solutions provider Virtify that was still under embargo at "press" time.
