Pen technology aids trial adaptations
Health Decisions has added digital pens to its adaptive clinical trial arsenal. The contract researcher is equipping investigators with pen/paper technology from Anoto, based in Sweden.
Investigators use the pens to log trial data; the pens record the data and convert it to digital format, says a trade publication. CRO and sponsor can then share the data once it's been downloaded and collated.
Health Decisions sees the technology as an aid to trial adaptation: It can keep both parties current with trial progress in a more timely fashion than that of more commonly used data-capture technologies. So trial managers will receive cues that drive trial adaptations earlier in the process.
