iPhone app finds clinical trials
The iPhone joins Twitter and social networks among the latest ways to find clinical trials. For $0.99, you can search tens of thousands of clinical trials by disease or condition, according to an announcement from trial-matching platform developer Healogica.
As reported earlier, Healogica-Clinical Trial 2.0 functions as a monster.com for clinical trials by pairing subjects and trials via a matching algorithm. And IT start-up TrialX in April launched a Twitter application allowing users to tweet the keyword "CT," provide a few details, and await a return tweet with a link to a site containing matching trial information. Likewise, condition-specific social network sites like Inspire.com provide a targeted means for recruiters to find subjects.
Users of the iPhone app are making a charitable contribution in addition to finding trials: the company says it will donate half of the proceeds of each download to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in recognition of Apple CEO Steve Jobs' fight against the disease.
