GSK iPhone app helps doctors find cancer trials
CancerTrials App is a geolocating cancer clinical trial application for the Apple iPhone and iPad. It's the first release of a mobile app for several platforms that connects to MedTrust Online's oncology databases.
The application, developed by GlaxoSmithKline and Medtrust, helps doctors communicate with patients about experimental cancer therapies in clinical trials.
The free application provides a search menu based on 12 common cancers. Users can refine searches based on such criteria as subject gender and age, and trial status. Once users locate relevant trials, they can map results relative to the iPhone location.
MedTrust says it expects to release versions for RIM's BlackBerry and Google's Android operating systems on the coming months.
