iPad hosts Nextrials platform
Clinical researchers can now use the Apple iPad to access the Prism EDC/clinical data management platform from Nextrials. Prism 3.0, announced last October, provides integration with traditional electronic health record platforms. The iPad compatibility provides real-time trial data access for office-averse physicians and researchers.
Prism data delivered via the iPad maintains the graphical formats that appear on a desktop computer. The company says it expects that iPad screen size, imaging power and medical apps availability will encourage the practice of bedside data entry for clinical trials. It also expects the iPad to provide researchers real-time access to adverse event data, patient recruitment status, and supply availability.
Last month, the Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium (CDISC) approved Nextrials as a registered solutions provider for the Prism system. The company became one of 15 providers sanctioned by the standards maker for compliance.
