Adaptive trial network expands south
Argentinean CRO KLIXAR has signed onto Health Decisions' Agile Clinical Network for adaptive trial design. As a network member, KLIXAR will be able to tap best practices information and partnership opportunities.
The CRO was trained in Agile Clinical Development techniques for adaptive trial operations as a prerequisite to network membership. KLIXAR also gets access to Health Decisions' data management systems, biostatistics expertise, medical writers, advanced data collection tools and real-time reporting capabilities.
Adaptive trials, meanwhile, are showing signs of beginning a migration from the theoretical to the real world. A Phase II study involving Alkermes's candidate treatment for alcohol dependence--a multi-center, double-blind, placebo-controlled 12-week effort involving some 440 subjects--has an adaptive design that allows for analysis after 40 percent of subjects are on the treatment for eight weeks.
